    Why Do You Yoga?

Evie, the owner of Moss-Spa Yoga, woke up to 5 AM 5AM alarm clock and sprung out of bed. She absolutely loved running her own yoga studio and was thrilled with the new marketing campaign she had been working on. She was in the process of interviewing some of her afternoon regulars about their 9 to 5 jobs.

The interviews focused on why they incorporate yoga into their routine. Today, after her 6 PM class she would be interviewing one of her favorite regulars, an immigration lawyer from Orange County. Evie can still remember the first time she came to one of her classes. She had recognized her right away from the News. She was an up-and-coming immigration lawyer who had made a name for herself by winning a variety of different large profile cases.

The hours ticked by and soon enough 6 PM arrived. Evie greeted her class and waved to the lawyer specifically as she entered the room. After an hour of shavasana, lotus position, kapotasana, and more Evie wrapped up.

“Thank you all for coming today, and namaste,” Evie said, bowing her head towards the class. A couple of participants came up after class to thank her. She smiled and made small talk for a few minutes until the interview was going to start.

“Hey friend, whenever you are ready I was thinking we could grab a cup of coffee and do the interview,” Evie yelled across the room waving her hand.

She smiled and replied, “Sounds good, I think I am ready whenever.” She slung her backpack over her shoulder, her yoga mat protruded out the top.

“Great,” Evie replied. She grabbed her bag and keys. The two women walked out the door and Evie locked up. “So, why don’t we just head across the street to the Maysville Café?” Tina nodded, and the girls headed across the street.

“So, basically I am interviewing and writing profiles on some of the regulars for my website. I am hoping to attract more members, and shed some light on the benefits of yoga,” Evie said as they snagged a table by the window.

A waitress approached and asked if she could take their order. “I would love a soy vanilla latte,” she said.

“I’ll have the same,” Evie said smiling. The waitress returned minutes later, and both women thanked her. “So, how is work going?” Evie questioned.

“Oh, it’s going really well. I actually just wrapped up a huge case, you may have heard about it,” she replied.

“Oh yeah, of course,” Evie replied. “The case involving the school systems and stuff.”

“Yes, that’s the one,” Tina laughed. “That was a really big win for us.”

“That’s awesome,” Evie replied. “So, I just have a couple of questions. First, what is it about yoga that you enjoy?”

She thought for a second then she replied, “I love what I do for work, but it can get intense preparing for cases and being in court. Having the opportunity to clear my head before going home. It is a great way to unwind!”

“I love that answer,” Evie replied. “Okay, the other question is, would you recommend yoga to other working professionals?’

“Of course, I would,” She replied. “Yoga is a great way to stay in shape, stay flexible, and clear your mind. It has become a pretty regular part of my routine. Also, the instructor I have is great,” Ahw winked at Evie and took a sip of her latte.

Evie laughed and said, “Well, that quote is definitely going on the website!”

  • Spanish Flavor – Yoga with a Twist

Spanish Flavor – Yoga with a Twist

Hello everyone, I have great news and a little story for you all! Business has been booming and our yoga study has been bursting at the seams. So much so that I had to extend our hours and hire another yoga instructor to meet all of the demand. Just as I thought, our eco-friendly yoga classes are a big hit in Orange County. I couldn’t be happier with the success that we have been having and our new teacher, she is amazing!

She is from South America and so she gives a little ethnic flair to our staff and classes. She was working at a yoga studio in Buenos Aires and wanted a change of scenery. I found her through some yoga forums that we were both in. We got to know each other years ago and became friends. She even came up to visit a few years back. All the way back then I was thinking about how fun it would be to have her working here. Well, the stars aligned and we were able to bring her on. We needed another teacher and she was looking for a new opportunity. Perfect fit!

We started planning out how this would all work. I went through all the hoops to get her a working visa, paid for her plane ticket, had housing set, everything was lined up. And then…she flew into LAX and got stuck at customs! I talked to the friendly officers, but they said that they couldn’t let her in because something was wrong with her paperwork. I couldn’t believe it! I needed her at the studio right away and I had personally done everything to make sure we didn’t have any hiccups, but here we were. I needed a local immigration attorney fast! Orange County is where my home is and so I started looking there. We have a lot of immigrants in Southern California and so I figured we could find someone good.

Let me tell you, I was not disappointed. After a little calling around, we ended up working with this amazing lady, Kiran. She drove right up to LAX that day with me and helped us to get everything worked out! It took a little time, but Kiran had so much experience it went really smoothly and was much less stressful than I was expecting. She seemed to know exactly what to do. Before too long we had our new teacher down in the studio and we were all eating organic, grass-fed crickets for dinner. The next day she was already teaching classes for us.

It’s been a few weeks since then and things have been going super well. The new teacher’s classes are already filling up. We are now able to cater to the Spanish speaking community and more and more people are coming to check us out. Not to mention that I have a new best friend to practice yoga with! Life is good! And the next time I need any assistance with immigration, I’ll be hitting Kiran up again. You can check her out here:
